Central Community Foundation provided About Face Women with a grant to purchase appliances in their new housing facility.
About Face Women plans to open its doors on July 1 and will assist non-violent women offenders in Payne and Logan County. The program will allow women to reside in the program for twelve months while completing and attending programs such as trauma, substance abuse and mental health counseling, cognitive behavior training, vocational assessment and trade training, budgeting and parenting skills.
“We’ve worked on starting the program for about three years now,” said Dee Miller, About Face Women’s program director. “Women will be able to live at the facility while attending the program to avoid jail time.”
Each participant will have a mentor to guide them through the program and assist them in securing employment and training. If you would like to learn more about the program, you can email aboutfaceprogram1@gmail.com.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
