The Central Community Foundation recently provided a grant to the Chandler Fire Department to help fund the purchase of wildland firefighting gear.

The Chandler Fire Department is the only department in Lincoln County that is staffed 24/7 with full-time firefighters. The department also enlists the help of volunteer firefighters. The grant will help the department purchase 12 sets of wildland firefighting gear to replace the department's worn and outdated gear. The new gear will provide better protection for firefighters.

The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
