The Noble County YMCA has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Central Community Foundation, supporting the renovation and expansion of its current facility.
The YMCA is now just $110,000 away from fully funding the project, which will modernize the 1984 facility and enhance vital services for families across the county.
The YMCA’s impact reaches far beyond fitness and recreation. Each year, the Noble County YMCA provides a food program during the summer and this year served 25,000 meals, ensuring local children had access to nutritious meals while out of school. During the recent SNAP shutdown, the organization stepped up once again, using funding to continue feeding children.
The renovation project will greatly increase the YMCA’s ability to meet community needs. Plans include a dedicated food facility to streamline and expand meal distribution efforts, as well as a brand-new pool with kid-friendly features to promote water safety, recreation and youth programming.
“This expansion is extremely exciting for our community and is big for a community of this size,” said Mandy Lowry, CEO of the Noble County YMCA.

The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
