The Central Community Foundation provided a grant to Citizen for the Improvement of Chandler (CIC) a multifaceted organization, whose aim and mission is to provide services to meet the needs of the Chandler community.
CIC owns and operates the Community Center inside the historical Douglass Gym which was constructed in 1908. The gym is a Chandler landmark and is utilized to provide multi-purpose activities and events. The grant helped replace a heating and air conditioning unit in the gym.
The gym is home to many community events. Fitness classes, basketball practices, lessons, and meetings are held in the gym. Sundays are open to the public and each week you will find youth gathering and playing games. More information on the Citizen for the Improvement of Chandler organization and Douglass Gym can be found on the organization’s Facebook page.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
