God’s Food Bank in Guthrie received a $1,000 grant from the Central Community Foundation to assist with weekly groceries and food boxes for local residents this Christmas.
God’s Food Bank provides groceries for up to 175 residents and food boxes to nearly 500 residents weekly.
The grant will allow the food pantry to purchase hams and turkeys for residents for Christmas, a time when meat is hard to purchase from the Regional Food Bank, their typical supplier.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
