Central Community Foundation board member, Janie Carey, resigns from the board at the April meeting. Carey has served the foundation for six years as the district four representative, working on countless grants since 2018.
Board members review and approve grant requests from organizations and individuals in Central Rural Electric Cooperative’s seven-county service area. Last year, more than $89,216 has been given through 52 grants to assist with building maintenance, emergency needs and improving the quality of life of residents.
Applications for grants are taken year-round and reviewed at each board
meeting. The board of directors serves three-year terms on the foundation’s board
and must be members of Central.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
