The Central Community Foundation provided the American Legion Auxillary Unit #257 in Stroud with a $1,000 grant to help fund the Bugle Boy statue project.

The Bugle Boy statue will sit at Stroud’s main street on Route 66 overlooking the Veteran’s memorial and will include a sound system to play Reveille each morning, Call to Colors each afternoon, and Taps each evening.

“We have worked on this project for over a year and are so close to meeting our goal,” said Diana Smalley Reed in American Legion’s grant request.

The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
