Langston’s fire department received a Central Community Foundation grant to outfit a donated fire truck.
The grant will outfit the donated class nine engine with tools, hoses and other necessary equipment for the fire department which often gets called to assist with surrounding communities.
“We respond to roughly 56 fires each year, including helping with other communities,” said Aaron Spencer, Langston Fire Department Lieutenant. “We typically send nine volunteers to help with task force in western Oklahoma each year as well.”
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
