Life Adult Day Center in Stillwater recently received a $5,000 grant from the Central Community Foundation and will be used as matching funds to receive a $15,000 matching grant.
The center hosts 26 mostly elderly adults with health issues or disabilities throughout the day with memory therapy, personal care and other activities such as gardening, exercise, arts and crafts to improve their daily lives.
“Services like ours are becoming even more necessary as the older population will see profound growth over the next decade,” said Kirsy Moorman, Life Adult Day Center’s Executive Director.
Life Adult Day Center will host an adaptive artisan fair on Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to showcase participants' artwork, music and crafts, and local resources available to the aging population.
“The center is a great resource for our community and is much needed,” said Mignon Bolay, Central Community Foundation board member.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
