Logan County 4-H Robotics Club received a Central Foundation grant to purchase iPads and update robotic sets to help teach 15 Logan County 4-H members about coding and programming.
“Our EV3 Lego robotic kits only work with iPads,” said Jennifer Dejonge, Logan County 4-H Robotics Club leader. “Right now they’re learning the basics of programming but they want to compete in competitions.”
The club has learned to program the robotic kits to do dances and plans to program kits for an upcoming blacklight bowling challenge at their next meeting.
“I just come up with ideas for them, they are so creative and create amazing things,” Dejonge said. “They watch videos all the time on how to code new things and we’re getting more interest in the club since no schools in the county have robotics clubs.”
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
