The Central Community Foundation provided a grant to Nature’s Vein Wildlife Rescue to help fund the expansion of their facilities and outreach.
Nature’s Vein Wildlife Rescue recently relocated from Perkins to Stillwater. The new location provides space for expansion of their facilities. The grant from the Central Community Foundation will help build a new indoor/outdoor crocodile enclosure to house their two rescued crocodiles. The enclosure will include indoor and outdoor water features and secured caging with greenhouse features to capture the warmth from the sun.
One rescued crocodile is a dwarf Caiman and the other is a Morelet crocodile. The crocodiles are used as educational ambassadors during the rescue’s responsible pet ownership program. Both crocodiles came from homes that neglected to do their homework before getting the exotic animals. Part of the rescue’s mission is to make the public aware of the responsibilities associated with ownership of these animals.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
