Central Community Foundation provided a grant for Thick Descriptions, a nonprofit providing education in STEM and anthropology to underserved areas in Oklahoma.
The grant will help bring Thick Descriptions summer classes five days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to Crescent Public Library and the G. Lamar Harrison Library in Langston with a goal of serving 60 students.
“Thick Descriptions was created because education needs to be disruptive,” said Suzette Chang, Thick Descriptions Founder and CEO. “Learning STEM and anthropology during school breaks help bridge the learning gap for historically underestimated youth.”
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
