The WM Conrad Veterans Memorial Gardens in Langston received a grant from the Central Community Foundation to continue the development of the Memorial Gardens representing each military branch.
Veterans Day appreciation and recognition events are hosted at the gardens, with the first happening in 2017.
"In addition to those programs continuing, we now plan to add weekly, monthly or bi-monthly programs that will address issues such as Veterans’ financial and health benefits and mental and emotional health issues,” said Dr. Alberta Mayberry, volunteer for the memorial gardens.
The grant will fund the coast guard flower beds, which will begin building in December and have flowers placed in spring.
The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.
